My 5th Birthday was "The Lion King" themed at the Atlanta Zoo. My mom block printed shirts for every guest by hand!
I believe people need to be together. Not just in the same room, but laughing, connecting, making the kind of memories that come up years later. Since becoming a mom, I see it even more up close. The way a well-hosted gathering can make someone feel like they truly belong. Hosting isn’t just fun — it’s how community gets made.Growing up, my birthdays were legendary. My mom built Aladdin marketplaces in our front yard and ran canoe rivers through our living room — she had the imagination of a Hollywood set designer and loved to go above and beyond to show her love. My dad shared wisdom from watching his mother: that the greatest gift is seeking to see people for who they truly are, and to continually invite them into your life. In our own ways, hosting was how we loved people.The prep? I genuinely love it. The sourcing, the planning, the moment it all comes together — that’s my happy place. Host Happy is how I share what I’ve learned so that the people who don’t love that part — or just don’t have time for it — can throw a celebration confidently and host happily.XO Katie
